Uttarakhand Farmer shows new ideas

Hatal, a small village in the Tiyuni area of Uttarakhand, has witnessed a quiet revolution over the last decade. A group of progressive farmers have succeeded in growing high-quality pomegranates in this area which had no history of growing the fruit. Pomegranates are mostly grown in western and southern India due to the favourable climatic conditions. These farmers succeeded in growing hybrid varieties of capsicum, tomatoes and broccoli as well.

As it is said that where there is a will there is a way.This has been true for some women of Uttarakhand. They have made a Village Dairy Cooperative Movement in Uttarakhand for empowering women. This movement is becoming an effective method in bringing about a turnaround in the fortunes of women who outnumber men is several districts Tribune India says. The dairy cooperative movement was started in Garhwal and Kuamaon regions with the establishment of the Milk Production Cooperative Association at Haldwani in 1949. Later, Cooperative associations were set up in Almora and Dehradun in 1954 and 1955.

वहां उधर पहाड़ शिखर पर बुरूंश का फूल खिल गया और मैं समझी कि मेरी प्यारी बिटिया हीरू आ रही है। अरे फूलों से झकझक लदे हुए बुरूंश के पेड़ को मैने अपनी बिटिया हीरू का रंगीन पिछौड़ा समझ लिया। वह तो बुरूंश का वृक्ष है। मेरी बेटी हीरू को तो राजा का पटवारी सोने-चांदी का लोभ दिखाकर अपने साथ ले गया है। वह अब आने से रही। अब तो वह तभी आएगी जब बूढ़ा पटवारी आएगा उसी के साथ वह आएगी।

सुप्रसिद्ध कहानीकार मोहन लाल नेगी की कहानी ‘बुरांश की पीड’ की नायिका रूपदेई के मुख पर अगर किसी परदेशी ने देख लिया तो उसकी मुखड़ी शर्म से ऐसे लाल हो जाती थी जैसे उसके मुख पर बुरूंश का फूल खिल गया हो। पहाड़ में नायिका के कपोलों और होठों को परिभाषित करने के लिए बुरूंश एक लोकप्रसिद्ध उपनाम है। गढ़वाल के पुराने प्रसिद्ध कवि चन्द्र मोहन रतूड़ी ने नायिका के ओठों की लालिमा का जिक्र कुछ इस अंदाज में किया है। इस बुरांश के फूल ने हाय राम तेरे ओंठ कैसे चुरा लिए, चोरया कना ए बुरासन ओंठ तेरा नाराण।
